
Oh, Brioche
Gauge doesn’t matter too much, but you don’t want to knit too tightly or the brioche won’t be nice and squishy. Too loose and it may catch on things.
Finished product, with regular gauge, should end up somewhere around 4.5′′ wide by 49′′ long. It’s perfect to wrap around your neck once or twice — and it’s so warm!
Abbreviations
CO: cast on
K: knit
K2tog: knit 2 together
YO: yarn over
St(s): stitch(es)
S/Sl st: slip stitch (make sure you slip purl-wise!)
Wyif: with yarn in front (put the yarn in front of the needle before you slip the stitch)
Ingredients
- 1 ball Malabrigo Merino Worsted (variegated is best — each stitch can be a different color!)
- 1 pair US 10 (6.0mm) straight needles (or even two dpn’s with point protectors on one end)
- yarn needle for weaving in ends (unless you want the raggedy look, of course) time (but not too much!)
Pattern
CO 20 sts.
Row 1: K2, *YO, S1, K1. Repeat from * to last two stitches. K1, S1 wyif.
Row 2: K2, *YO, S1, K2tog {the YO and the sl st from the last row}. Repeat from * to last two sts. K1, S1 wyif.
+Repeat Row 2 until you have around 36′′ of yarn left. BO, weave in ends, and enjoy!
