Last year I got my very first ever skein of Plucky from a destash on Ravelry. I loved it — it was the perfect intro to Plucky’s lovely yarns. I’m still hanging onto it until it tells me what design it wants to be turned into because I want it to be the perfect yarn/design combo.
So this year I had the opportunity to go to Stitches South with my knitting group ladies. Ohhhhh, it was a wonderful trip! We stayed in the Gaylord Hotel right there at the Opryland Convention Center, so I got to walk all over the place all day and not set foot outside. The conservatories and atriums with their plants and waterfalls were so fun to explore..
It was such a treat because aside from the experience of being there, I got to meet some pretty cool people! I’ll be doing several blog entries about my favorite yarns and goodies — there are too many to squeeze into a single blog entry! — and I’m starting with Plucky.
I got to meet the Plucky team and have my photo taken with Sarah — she’s really nice! Talking with her and meeting everyone really helped bring their brand to life. Now I’m itching to design with the yarn I got! If only there were more hours in the day..
Their booth was overflowing with gorgeous yarns! Unfortunately I was on a budget, so I only indulged in 3 skeins of yarn (well, 4, but one was for Jenn). ;)
First I decided on a fun color duo in Primo Sport, and I’m envisioning a stripey shawl. Maybe something with short rows, which would be a first for me as a designer.
And then I was browsing through their bins of “One Hit Wonder” skeins, which are mess-up skeins they sell at a great price, and I found this gem. It is soooooooo soft, and the color is one I normally don’t knit with, so it’s a great addition to my stash. I don’t even care about the little oopsy spot..
