Finishing things, I think, is part of being intentional. True? Not sure what made the connection in my head between that and my word for the year, but here’s my thought.. I’ve still got quite a few WIP’s left over from years past. I finished several of them last year, but I still have some lurking in the shadows. For some reason, it just gives me a lighter feeling when I clear out WIP’s and don’t have them following me around. And I hadn’t done that in a long time. Until the 19 before 2019 challenge, I’d forgotten how good it felt!
Then I saw on @blacksquirrelberkeley’s IG story this lovely challenge they’re calling the Finish It Challenge 2019! OMG this is so perfect!! Another piece of the puzzle that is my 2019 goals, right??
Soooo I think I’ll keep finishing stuff before tackling my Make Nine 2019. Tabitha and Rachel of Hey Sister Yarn Co. were talking about an idea on their podcast about having one of each certain type of project OTN — like one pair of socks, one cardigan, one shawl, etc. Then when you BO one, you can CO another of that type so you don’t get carried away..like I have lol. I think using that rule this year will be great, but only if I finish some stuff first!!
I posted a list of my WIP’s in October (with photos) and I think I’ll go ahead and update it here..hoping I’ve made a bit of progress. >_<
- two cardigans (Campside and a design)
- three shawls (Fade and two designs)
- one pair of socks (Mismatch socks)
Just one cardigan and the pair of gloves are off the list. BUT I also made a scarf, a hat, and a pair of socks in December, so I think I’ve still made good progress on knitting projects overall. Just not on that list. :P
Yeah, I like this. I’m feeling good about it. As I mentioned on my latest podcast episode, after working on other stuff so much, I REALLY missed my Fade! So I’ve been working on it again. I think I’ll keep at it and try to finish it next week.
Then I’m thinking I’ll go after my Campside Cardi. I forget if I mentioned that I got small circular needles for the sleeves so I can fly over Sleeve Island instead of hanging out there for too long. Once again, gotta say how much the small circulars have made me feel SO much better about socks and sleeves — I dread it when I have to pull out the dpn’s!!
Course of action as of right now is going to be Fade > Campside > new shawl to reward myself?? then I’ll go from there I guess.
My apologies in advance if you read this and then also watch my podcast because in my next episode I might talk about this stuff too.. since I know there are knitters who watch the podcast who don’t read my silly ramblings here lol.
