Last summer, a co-worker at my old job found out that I had never experienced the magic of the Harry Potter series and promptly loaned me her DVD copies of the films. I fell in love with a world I had never thought I would, a world I’d been told as a kid wasn’t something I should get into. Well, that’s water under the bridge, and I can honestly say that I discovered the amazingness of reading and writing fiction and fantasy with the help of other authors, so I didn’t miss out on all that because I didn’t pick up J.K. Rowling’s works. In fact, as I’ve gone through and read the series now, as an adult, I think I’m glad I didn’t get into them as a kid. It’s been wonderful finding something new-to-me as an adult that I can fangirl about.
I’m currently on the final novel, and it’s been one awesome ride. I’ve bought each book one at a time, and a couple of them I got on special trips with my boy, so they’re keepsakes that bring to mind places I love. Since stumbling into Harry’s world and coming to appreciate the characters with a deep affection, I’ve started collecting stuff, of course.. my lil Harry Funko Pop is currently standing on my desk next to my Mac. I got the Alex & Ani bracelet with the Deathly Hallows charm on it, and I have an artistic, twiggy version of the Hallows on my car. And I have the journal from Books-A-Million.
I’ve also started collecting knitterly things that show how much of a fangirl I am! Gonna show ’em off now so you can get your hands on them, too, if you haven’t already! Disclaimer: the photos aren’t as bright as I used to do them because I now work a closing schedule, which means most of my blogging time is after 10pm. I’ll try to take items with me to work and photograph them on my lunch break or photograph stuff on my off days, but for now, it’s mostly going to be photos at my desk taken with my iPhone 8+ which is great quality, but the lighting isn’t the best..
I’ll start with my favorite new project bag from The Ginger Ewe. I found her on Instagram @the.ginger.ewe and as soon as she’d opened up more pre-orders for this bag on her Etsy shop, I grabbed one. It’s super well-made, and I love it. I’m currently keeping my Primrose cardigan design in it. I’m well into the body, and it’s fitting in the bag nicely.
I also happened upon the perfect little pin to go with my bag.. it’s made by Shelli Can, and I loooooove it!!
She also makes progress keepers she calls “The Crafty Hallows” and I just had to get one of those too..
Then for stitch counting, I went with a lovely little set of markers from The Blackberry Ridge. I’ll be using them for a sock project I’m about to start (it’s Potter related, so I’ll talk about it in this post too!). Also, her yarn is gorgeous and I’ll be getting some!
As for the sock project I mentioned, I found a lovely sock set at Loft Twenty Two inspired by Harry Potter, and I’m going to design a sock pattern with it!
Harry the Funko came over to see what I was taking pictures of..
So pretty! These photos really don’t do it justice though.. I’ll have to get better ones outside for sure! Oh, and Harry isn’t too sure about this.. named after Borgin & Burkes? Umm, are you sure there isn’t anything funny about this yarn?
I’ve already got ideas for the design sketched out, and I’m planning to start it soon. I think I’m going to buy a set of sock circulars to knit them on. I know I had some, but I don’t know where they are or if they’re the right size. xD
Anyway, I think that’s it for this post. I’ll be sure to write more soon. Thanks for reading!
