there's just something about yarn...

Annie Yarn

Destiny DK in Pecan Pie

July 26, 2015

I think my current favorite Annie Yarn base is Destiny DK. My Cathedrals prayer shawl design got me hooked, so I dyed myself a SQ of Pecan Pie for a fall cardigan. I’ve been so busy that I haven’t taken the time to braid or label it, so it looks like non-Annie Yarn..kinda funny way to put it, but that’s how I think. :P

Of course, I’ve had so much going on that I haven’t knitted with it yet. For several months I really didn’t do much knitting until I decided last week to finish Cathedrals as fast as I could (due in part to a knitting bug bite, I think). And right now I have two cardigans on the needles. So I really shouldn’t start another one…

But I can’t help think of the patterns I’ve had my eye on. I thought about designing with the yarn, but I’d much rather indulge in knitting someone else’s pattern as a relaxation knit. When I’m writing a pattern, it’s hard to enjoy the process of knitting it sometimes because I’m so intent on making sure I write everything down correctly. So when I want a real treat, I’ll knit another designer’s pattern in my own yarn. That’s what I’m doing with my Foraging cardigan, and I’m itching to get back to that. Might pull it out today since it’s the weekend.

Anyway, back to Destiny DK. There are two patterns I’ve been eyeing, by designer friends, and I’m trying to decide which one to make with this particular yarn. Here are the contenders:

Sophie by Jennifer Wood

I know I’ll make both of these cardigans eventually, so it’s not either/or in that regard. But I think I’m leaning toward Sophie because of the fiber content in Destiny DK. I think the cashmere might be too heavy for Campside. Plus, color-wise, I think I’d rather dye up something pastel for Campside like in the pictures for a more springish cardigan..like perhaps a new colorway for spring.. ohhhhh, I’d better stop that thought process right there or I’ll be plotting all day and won’t get any rest!

Hehe, I guess I’ve decided then — Sophie it is for my Pecan Pie, and I’ll dye up something pastel for Campside for a spring cardigan. Isn’t it wonderful how helpful blogging can be? ;)
